Director of Program Services 

The Director of Program Services is onof the most important positions at The Green Chair Project.  As part of the leadership team reporting to the Executive Director,  the Director of Program Services will be responsible for leadership across client programs and services ensuring alignment with the mission and vision of The Green Chair Project, and that the services are achieving the desired outcomes.  The director contributes insights and expertise to the operations, direction, and goals of The Green Chair Project and works collaboratively with other members of the program team and leadership in implementing them.  S/he represents the culture and values of the organization with professional poise and integrity in day to day practices, and in interactions with our partner agencies, our community, volunteers, and all constituents.   

  • Inspires, motivates, and supports staff, and volunteers 
  • Integrates staff and programs around mission and goals, finding ways to leverage the assets of staff individually and collectively.  Creates an environment of collaboration and accountability with clearly established roles and expectations but allows and welcomes input and creativity 
  • Focuses on outcome focused services – works to establish program priorities, determine key outcomes and review data to determine the effectiveness of our programs 
  • Ensures appropriate data is collected and tracked in a timely manner 
  • Works collaboratively with referring agencies and works to develop new connections and opportunities in our community 
  • Co-leads, along with a board member, the Program Advisory Task Force to look at all aspects of existing services to propose areas for growth and improvement 
  • Sensitivity and respect towards all populations 
  • Recruit and train volunteers to schedule appointments, work with participants and case managers and record program information 
  • Provide metrics and updates to be presented to the Board 
  • Oversee training content for partner agency case managers and social workers, and develop new partnerships with non profits that would be good collaborative partners with The Green Chair Project 

Skills and Experience 

  • Proven leadership and management skills – preferably in a human services environment 
  • Experience leading the growth and development of programs and processes 
  • Successful experience in strengthening program delivery and/or designing and implementing new program initiatives 
  • Experience in an outcome oriented approach that recognizes the importance of good data practices as they support the alignment of services toward reaching outcomes and fulfilling our mission 
  • Enthusiasm for thinking about ways to continuously improve our service delivery, flexibility, positive approach to all issues 

Education and Experience 

  • Masters in Social Work (A Macro emphasis would be preferred but not mandatory)   
  • Experience in the Wake County Human Services or Wake County School networks 
  • Successful management experience overseeing programs in a human services environment 
  • Prior experience working with people experiencing poverty, homelessness, crisis, disaster or multi-cultural populations
